Different disciplines. A shared direction.

The HEPHAESTUS team in front of the university building

HEPHAESTUS brings together students from the Departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering and Mechanical Engineering at the University of the Peloponnese, with contributions from volunteers, friends and collaborators from other institutions. Different disciplines come together around specific technical goals and shared working practices.

Rocketry requires coordination from the first design decision through to recording the flight. The same principle applies to our other activities. Through organised task allocation, technical discussions and the exchange of knowledge, we develop projects in which each department takes responsibility for its own work while keeping sight of the overall result.

Our departments

Mechanical DepartmentMechanical

The Mechanical Department designs the physical parts of our constructions, from rocket geometry to joints, supports and manufacturing details. Members work with CAD, aerodynamic and structural analysis, material selection and prototyping. Design does not end when the model is complete: it continues through assessing manufacturability and testing the actual components.

Propulsion DepartmentPropulsion

The Propulsion Department focuses on studying propulsion systems and developing the related research knowledge. Its work combines mechanical engineering, materials, measurements and technical documentation. Our approach prioritises understanding the requirements and preparing appropriate procedures, with particular attention to safety and scientific responsibility.

Electronics DepartmentElectronics

The Electronics Department designs and integrates circuits, sensors, microcontrollers and embedded systems. In rocketry, this includes flight electronics, measurement collection, telemetry and interfaces with mechanical mechanisms. The aim is for each electronic module to have a defined role and to be testable as part of the overall system.

Software DepartmentSoftware

The Software Department develops the code and tools that allow the electronics and other systems to work together. For rocket missions, this involves embedded software, sensor processing, flight-data logging and ground-station applications. The work relies on clear operating logic, testing and the ability to evaluate the results.

Communication and SupportMarketing & Support

The Communication and Support Department ensures that the team's work is presented clearly and consistently. Members work on visual identity, graphic design, photography and video, social media, presentations, and communication with organisations and partners.
